A highly specialized AI software that architects the next generation of chips, perfectly tuned to the workloads of tomorrow’s models and software needs. When this specialized intelligence closes the loop, hardware and software begin to co‑evolve at an almost identical speed.
Each turn of this flywheel would compress the distance between idea and reality across every field from fusion energy to biology.
Why Civilization Needs This Now
Our progress meter on the Kardashev scale hovers around 0.75. We harvest only a fraction of Earth’s energy and advance in fits and starts, constrained by human iteration cycles. To break free we need exponential, non-linear gains in discovery, productivity and resource utilization. According to me, a self‑amplifying AI‑hardware-software loop is the most direct path to bend that curve sharply upward.
Fixing the Weakest Link First
Today, chip design remains the slow, artisanal bottleneck in an otherwise software‑driven world. Complex design and verification processes take years. Meanwhile, AI and algorithmic innovation runs on a cadence of weeks. Until hardware can iterate at software speed, the loop stalls.
Moores Lab AI — My Opening Move
My core motivation behind Moores Lab AI is to remove this bottleneck. I envision a world where chips are designed in weeks instead of years. By injecting that velocity into the hardware pipeline, we can prime the larger flywheel I described above. For me, this company is the first foothold on a much taller climb.
